Agatha Christie was born on 15th September 1890 , in Torquay , Devon , England . Her parents were Fredrick Alvah Miller - a Wealthy American stockbroker and Clarissa Margaret Boehmer . She had one brother - Louis Montant Miller and a Sister - Margaret Frary Miller . She was also called as Agatha Mary Clarissa . During childhood , she received home education on Arithmetic and also learnt to play the Piano and Mandolin at home . She did have access to many books and became an Avid reader . In 1901 , her family went through financial crisis after her father's death . The sad demise of her father ended her happy childhood and started living with her mother in their home at Torquay . In 1902 , she took admission at ' Miss Guyer's Girls school ' in Torquay , but could not continue her education in the school . In 1905 , she went to Paris and France where she studied singing and Piano at 'Mrs Dryden's finishing school .

Writing Career :
 
 • Her first story was ' The House Of Beauty ' which described the world of ' madness of dreams ' . She continued writing short stories that showcased her interest in spiritualism and paranormal activities . 

 she wrote a novel titled ' Snow Upon The Desert ' which she sent to some publishers under the Pseudonym Monosyllaba. 

During World War I' in 1914 , Agatha joined the ' Voluntary Aid Detachment ' . From October 1914 to December 1916 , she dedicated her time by doing 3,400 hours of unpaid work . 

From December 1916 until the end of her service in september 1918 , she earned €16 a year as a dispenser . She was an Avid reader of detective novels of prominent authors like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

      While working as nurse in world war I , she was inspired from such novels and she wrote her , 
 First Detective Novel   -  The Mysteries Of Affair At Styles " in 1920. She created a strongest and Belgian fictional character , ' Hercule Poirot ' . This egoistic Belgian character appeared almost in 25 novels of Agatha Christie . In october 1920 , John Lane at ' The Bodley Head ' agreed to publish ' The Mysteries of affair at Styles' .  
Second Novel     - ' The Secret Adversary ' , published in 1922 by ' The Bodley Head ' , introduced the popular characters ' Tommy ' and ' Tuppence '
 Third Novel   -  ' Murder On The Links ' was published in 1923 . This novel featured characters like ' Hercule Poirot ' and ' Arthur Hastings ' . Then it was followed by more than 50 novels. Totally she wrote 66 novels and 14 short stories . She was appraised as world's longest running play author for her novel , ' The mousetrap ' .

Mysterious Disappearance : 

             Agatha Christie fell in love with Archibald Christie , an aviator in the Royal Flying Corps whom she married on the Christmas Eve in December 1914 . They had a daughter , Rosalind in August 1919 who made their lives beautiful . During that time , she frained and worked as a nurse helping to treat wounded soldiers . She also became educated in the field of Pharmacy . 

 Here comes An Interesting Apologue :

In 1926 , her husband had a relationship with another woman . On December 3 , 1926 , after a quarrel between Agatha and her husband ,  she disappeared from her house . As her major breakthrough , she disappeared for 11 days . It became National Headline news as the whole country undergone in the mystery of where she had disappeared to . On December 14 , 1926 , she was seen at ' Swan Hydropathic Hotel ' in Harrogate , Yorkshire under a false name . It is believed to be suffering from nervous disorder and also due to her turbulent marriage . In a way , the drama of her disappearance increased her profile as a writer of fiction . After divorcing Archibald in 1928 , she married Max Mallowan in 1930 . Her second husband was an Archaelogist and she often accompanied him on trips to the Middle East .She learnt to help in Archaeological digs , taking Photographs and working on the sites . She paid her own way and tired to keep out of the Limelight , working anonymously

 Works & Deeds : 

Her novel ' Murder in Mesopotamia ' , set against the backdrop of Middle East , was published in 1936 . This book is remarkable for its vivid description of an archaeological dig site . The  characters of this book are based on archaeologists whom she met in real life . Published in 1938 , the novel ' Appointment with Death ' features her well-known detective character ' Hercule Poirot ' . The novel , which is set in Jerusalem , offer some descriptive details of sites which she herself visited in order to write the book . 

⦿  Since she  was successful author of a number of detective stories , she was named the ' Queen Of Crime ' .

⦿ To honour her literary creation , she was appointed Commander of the order of the British Empire in the 1956 New Year Honours .

Cast Of Characters :  

Poirot and Marple are Christie's most well-Known detectives , with the two featured in dozens of novels and Short Stories . Poirot made the most appearance in Christie's work in titles that included Ackroyd , The Mystery of the Blue Train (1928) and Death in the Clouds (1935) . Miss Marple has been featured in books like The Moving Finger (1942)  and A Pocket Full Of Rye (1953) and had been played on screen by actresses like Angela Lansbury , Helen Hayes and Geraldine McEwan . Other notable Christie characters include Tuppence , Tommy Beresford , Colonel Race , Parker Pyne and Ariadne Oliver .

Trivia & Tombstone:

             Agatha Christie passed away on 12 January 1976 at the age of 85 at her home ' Winterbrook House ' in Winterbrook , Wallingford , Oxfordshire . During her disappearance in 1926 , Sir Arthur Conan Doyle took one of her gloves to a spirit medium to find her location . Then the Home Secretary William Joyson -  Hicks pressurized the police department to find her . The Agatha Christie Memorial is a memorial to author and Playwright Agatha Christie , located at the intersection of Cranbourn street and Great Newport street by St Martin's Cross near Covent Garden , in London , United Kingdom . The memorial depicts a book with Christie at its centre . It is about 2.4 metres high and made of Bronze . The memorial was unveiled on 25 November 2012 , to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of ' The Mousetrap '
